Manila Foodshoppe Restaurant

Review:
One of my colleagues celebrated his birthday today and decided to treat us all for lunch.(So generous of him! Thanks, Chris!) We ordered delivery from Manila Foodshoppe. I have to say, I was quite impressed with the delivery service. We asked them to deliver the food to our office at 12 noon and the food arrived early. They earned plus points for that!

The thing with this restaurant is that they give you generous portions with a very affordable price range between 100-150 to 200 pesos. This is fairly cheap compared with the other restaurants in the city. So it goes to say that you get what you pay for. You can't exactly expect the same type of food at a five star restaurant. The food is average at best but it leaves you happy and satisfied unless you are quite picky with your food or you're a snobby food connoisseur. The portions are definitely BIG and filling. One order is good to share between 3-4 people.

Out of the four dishes, this is the one I loved the most, Buttered Chicken. Although it was not crispy hot like KFC, I liked the garlicky flavor. It wasn't overly greasy and the meat inside wasn't dry. It was still pretty good but nothing spectacular. The sweet and sour sauce was a little bland, not overly sweet and tart which I actually like and on the thin side but the chicken went really well with it.

You can't miss rice when you're eating with other Filipinos. It wouldn't really feel like a meal unless there is rice on the table. Again, huge portion for the Shanghai Fried rice but not too much flavor going on here which is too bad because I happen to like fried rice but I love it with a LOT of stuff especially vegetables.

Shanghai Fried Rice
Golden crispy, crunchy, lip-smacking good spring rolls!  It's hard not to like fried spring rolls.
Lumpia Shanghai (Fried Spring Rolls)
When I opened the package it came with, the noodles were like a big, unappetizing clump. However, that might be because of the traveling and food is always best eaten served hot and fresh on the table. It was still pretty good though and flavorful. Plus it had a lot of cabbages, shredded carrots, a couple of meatballs and few pieces of meat.

Bam-i (Stir Fried Noodles)
The total bill for everything below was 850 pesos (for 9 people to share).
1 order Lumpia Shanghai Fried Spring Rolls
1 order Bam-i Noodles
2 orders Buttered Fried Chicken
3 orders Shanghai Fried Rice

Overall, we had a good lunch and we were happy with their food. We'll definitely order again.
